How the online stopwatch works
Press Start and the flip digits count up from zero with hundredths of a second beneath the main display. Space starts and pauses, L records a lap, and Reset clears the table for a fresh series. Every lap stores its number, the split since the previous lap, and the running total, so training sets and lab trials stay comparable lap to lap. The display uses the same folding animation as the main clock, which keeps the whole site consistent.
Laps, splits, and marks
The lap table highlights the fastest split with a best mark and the slowest with a worst mark once at least two laps exist. This makes pacing visible without any math: a steady series shows similar splits, while a fading series shows growing ones. Coaches use the table to review intervals after a session, and runners use it to check whether the opening lap was too quick.
Milliseconds on demand
Hundredths display is on by default for close timing, and one toggle hides it for a calmer whole second view. Precision underneath stays the same either way, so toggling mid session never corrupts the totals. Keep the small digits on for sprints and swimming heats, and turn them off for classroom demos where whole seconds read better from the back row.
Export and accuracy
Export CSV downloads every lap as plain comma separated values that open in any spreadsheet app. The file is generated in the browser with no upload and no account. Timing itself derives from high resolution timestamps rather than counted ticks, so background tabs and throttled intervals do not skew the result. For official races, keep the tab visible so lap presses land exactly on the line.
Where a flip stopwatch helps
Coaches time sprints, swim heats, and circuit training with the lap table running on a tablet at the track side. Science students record experiment trials and export the CSV for lab reports. Hiring teams time interview exercises fairly across candidates, and board game groups settle turn disputes with a visible count up clock. The keyboard shortcuts keep hands free: Space for start and pause, L for each lap.

FAQ
How do I record laps?
Press Start, then press the Lap button each time you want a split. Every lap appears in the table with its number, the lap split, and the running total. The fastest lap gets a best mark and the slowest gets a worst mark once you have at least two laps. Use Reset to clear the table and start a fresh series.
Is the stopwatch accurate in a background tab?
Yes, elapsed time is derived from high resolution timestamps rather than counted intervals. Browsers slow down timers in background tabs, but the stopwatch recomputes from the start timestamp on each update, so the displayed time stays correct. The same approach keeps lap splits consistent even if the tab was hidden. For races, keep the tab visible so you can hit Lap on time.
Can I export lap times?
Yes, click Export CSV to download every lap with its number, split, and total. The file opens in any spreadsheet app and uses plain comma separated values with one lap per row. Export works entirely in the browser with no upload and no account. If the table is empty, record at least one lap before exporting.
Can I show milliseconds?
Yes, the milliseconds toggle is on by default and shows hundredths of a second beneath the main digits. Turn it off for a calmer display that shows whole seconds only. The underlying timing keeps full precision either way, so laps remain comparable. Use the on screen switch to change it mid session.
